I drew this fly with Windows Paint to give it that old school video game 8-bit graphic feel (24-bit in this case). This is zoomed to show the shading on the hook and head.

This was a combo of Inkscape to make the main vectors, particularly the leaf veins which were made with the tree render tool. It was then brought into Firefox and colored, etc.
